Author Malcolm Gladwell once wrote that it takes roughly 10,000 hours of practice to achieve mastery in a field. So if a budding artist sketched for one hour everyday for over 27 years, imagine how great their work would be in the end.
However, finding something to draw everyday can be a challenge. If you hardly go anywhere, do anything, or meet anyone, you can easily run out of ideas about what to draw.
Enter the art prompt — it can be as simple as a single word or as complex as a creative concept. Search online for ideas, or ask your friends. I asked mine, and here are some suggestions they made:
- a book cover for a movie you've seen recently
- revisit old artwork you've done and redo them with your improved skills
- Edgar Allan Poe
- a nice mountain or forest scene
- bridge in Venice
What art prompts can you come up with?
